There was vintage charm and wheels galore at the inaugural edition of the Sharjah Classic Car Festival which began on Friday. With more than 300 vehicles of all sizes and shapes lined up in front of the Sharjah Classic Car Museum (SCCM), the event brought together car enthusiasts and families from all over the country.
With free admission, the event, which will run until Sunday, February 4, has several entertainment options for families and also hosts talks and workshops for motor enthusiasts. Here are some images from the event.
Ford Model T
One of the highlights of the event was this 100-year-old Ford Model T. Produced in 1924, the vehicle is generally regarded as one of the first affordable automobiles that made automobile travel within the reach of the middle class. Production of the vehicle stopped in 1927.

Nissan 300zx z31
The Nissan 300zx z31 is a classic sports car that attracted many eyes at the festival for its sporty appearance. The first generation of this car was manufactured between 1983 and 1989. It was called Fairlady Z.
Children visiting the festival had the opportunity to race around the grounds in their own small sports car while adults admired the wide variety of classic cars on display.
Volkswagen beetle
This unique blue Volkswagen Beetle is a modified, convertible version of the original that was first produced in 1938. Known for its distinctive shape, the Beetle has been a top choice for car collectors.
A lot of work has gone into most classic cars and their restoration requires hundreds of thousands of dirhams. Some cars have very rare spare parts that could take months for their owners to obtain.
porsche 928
The Porsche 928 was first launched in 1978 with the performance of a sports car and the comforts of a luxury car. Known for its pop-up headlights, this car is displayed at the festival in this exclusive pink color.

In addition to the cars and fun activities, motorsport lovers will be able to enjoy a series of talks throughout the three-day event ending on Sunday, February 4. On Friday, Qatari driver and rally champion Mubarak Al Hajri was one of the speakers.

The SCCM showcases a collection of the world’s rarest automobiles, some dating back to 1915, with a special exhibit highlighting the oldest metal car plates and vintage fuel pumps, presented for the first time.
