Maj. Gen. Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, commander-in-chief of Sharjah Police, said the boy suffered critical injuries that ultimately led to his death, despite medical efforts to save him at the hospital.
“The tragedy occurred when the traffic light was green for vehicles and red for pedestrians,” explained Major General Al Shamsi.
“As the driver passed the signal, the child suddenly exited from the left side, causing the fatal accident.”
A traffic case has been registered against the motorist and will be taken up by the Public Ministry for further investigation.
