The UAE’s best talents and companies shine: nominations open for Emirates Labor Market Award, worth Dh37 million

Dubai: Outstanding workers and companies in the UAE will be recognized once again through the country’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MOHRE), as the Ministry launched the second edition of the Emirates Labor Market Award today.

Dr. Abdulrahman Abdulmannan Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization, announced the launch of the second edition of the award, following the success of the first edition last year.

In the 2023 edition, the Ministry received more than 3,500 applications and carried out 100 field visits to workers and companies that qualified. The first edition had 66 winners, with a total of 9 million dirhams awarded to workers and companies.

This year, the prize amount has been multiplied by more than four to reach 37 million dirhams.

What is the Emirates Labor Market Award?

The Emirates Labor Market Award is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Presidential Court of the UAE, and is organized annually by MOHRE.

The award aims to encourage best practices in the UAE labor market and raise awareness of them locally and internationally.

Prize objectives:

• Improve the competitiveness of the UAE labor market.
• Respect leading practices in the work environment and protect employee rights.
• Improve the well-being and quality of life of the workforce of private sector companies.
• Increase the productivity and efficiency of the UAE labor market.

Award categories:

1. Companies

Awarded to companies that have adopted the best practices for their human resources in line with the Award criteria and have achieved the highest compliance with the norms and standards of the work environment.

• Employment, empowerment and skills attraction.
• Work environment and staff well-being.
• Innovation and preparation for the future.

33 winners will be announced in this category.

2. Exceptional workforce

Excellent workforce that has served businesses and the community in the UAE.

Criteria for skilled workers

• Leadership and influence
• Achievement
• Continuous learning
• Social responsability

Criteria for domestic workers and workers at other professional levels (the nomination for this category will be by the company or family)

• Social responsability
• Achievement

48 winners will be announced in this category.

3. Work accommodation

The best investments in work accommodation.

• Facilities
• Sustainability initiatives
• Additional services
• Workplace well-being initiatives

Two winners will be announced in this category.

4. Business Service Partners

Business services agencies/recruitment agencies/employment agencies that have helped develop best practices in the labor market.

Criteria for domestic worker recruitment agencies:

• Support for domestic workers
• Family support

Criteria for employment agencies

• Empowerment and development
• Stimulus and motivation
• Employment, empowerment and attraction of Skills

Criteria for business service centers

• Stimulus and motivation
• Employment and empowerment

The opinions of the beneficiaries of the services will be taken: 70 percent for the application and 30 percent for the vote.

Three winners will be announced in this category.

5. Special Recognition

Pioneering company – Company with best practices that have a positive impact on the UAE labor market.

Personality of the year – An exceptional personality who contributed to the development of the UAE labor market.

Pioneering initiative – A pioneering initiative in the management of labor relations, developing practices to attract capabilities or empower the workforce.

Influencer – Social media influencer who contributed to raising awareness about the laws, policies and decisions that regulate the labor market.

Four winners will be announced in this category.

What is the prize for each category?

Workforce Awards

Cash awards to individuals as follows:
– First place: 100,000 dirhams
– Second place: 75,000 dirhams
– Third place: 50,000 dirhams

company awards

First prize: The company is classified as the first category in the Ministry’s ranking and benefits from discounts on the Ministry’s services, with a maximum financial saving of Dh1.5 million, for companies that obtain first place.

Second place: The company is ranked in the first category in the Ministry’s ranking and benefits from discounts on Ministry services, with a maximum financial saving of Dh1 million, for companies ranking second.

Third place: The company is classified in the first category in the Ministry’s ranking and benefits from discounts on the Ministry’s services, with a maximum financial saving of Dh500,000, for companies ranking third.

Categorization of diamonds within the MOHRE systems will include:

• Priority in transactions
• Priority in solving technical problems
• Special telephone call service

The last date of submission is August 31, 2024 and the award ceremony will be held in November 2024.
