Dubai Metro users can now top up their Nol cards with digital payments after the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) completed the upgrade of ticket vending machines (TVMs) at all stations.
The RTA completed the upgrade of 165 of the 262 TVMs at metro stations, allowing digital payment transactions to top up Nol card balance, reducing transaction time by 40%.
These devices will also return change in the form of paper or currency.
Hassan Al Mutawa, Director of Railway Operations at the Railway Agency, RTA, said: “The renewed TVMs have a stylish design and different colors to help customers easily spot them at each station.

These devices reduce transaction processing time by 40%, ensuring passengers have a seamless and comfortable experience. As part of the improvements made to the TVMs at Dubai Metro stations on the Red and Green Lines, the machines can handle both banknotes and coins, meeting customer needs. Passengers can now also complete the Nol card recharge process much faster, reducing waiting time at TVMs.

“This initiative arises from RTA’s ambitious vision as ‘World Leader in fluid and sustainable mobility’, confirming its commitment to customer satisfaction. RTA’s commitment to innovation is evident from the continuous efforts made to improve efficiency and adopt advanced approaches to provide better services to passengers,” Al Mutawa added.
Al Mutawa added: “RTA aims to achieve customer happiness by reducing transaction processing times and improving accessibility. RTA focuses strongly on financial sustainability and operational efficiency, with the secure digitalization of services being a key objective. To encourage customers to adopt digital payments, RTA plans to increase the current 20% segment of Nol users adopting digital methods on Dubai Metro. This will reduce the logistical services associated with cash handling.
“Dubai Metro is a step towards a future that prioritizes convenient and sustainable transportation. RTA is committed to offering world-class services that meet the changing needs of its diverse passengers,” concluded Al Mutawa.
