National Expert Program opens applications for fourth edition

National Experts announced today that it has begun receiving applications for the fourth edition of the National Expert Program (NEP). The application period will remain open until April 30, 2024.

Established in 2019, Nep serves as a launch pad for Emirati technical experts who are poised to play a transformative role in future growth sectors aligned with the UAE’s national priorities.

The fourth edition of the program aims to enhance the skills of 20 technical experts in three key groups: economic growth, social development and sustainability and infrastructure. Applicants must have a decade of experience, including five years in their sector, and contribute to strategic projects. This year, AI will be integrated into the application process, including skills and personality analysis, AI interviews and reporting systems, to streamline selection. Five new sectors, including artificial intelligence and space, will be introduced into economic, social and sustainability clusters, addressing national priorities in the UAE’s strategic objectives.

Ahmed Talib Al Shamsi, Director of the National Expert Program (NEP), emphasized the program’s commitment to fostering talent in sectors crucial to the future growth of the UAE. Aligned with national priorities, the fourth edition aims to meet changing needs in a rapidly changing technological landscape. Located in a global context, the Nep offers Emiratis the opportunity to shape the nation’s trajectory and emerge as leaders. Through mentorship from influential leaders and academic associations, the program instills lifelong learning mindsets: reflective, analytical, worldly, collaborative and action-oriented, enabling participants to meaningfully contribute to the development of the UAE and create a future better for everyone.

Developed in partnership with local and international academic and sector leaders, the program will enable participants to further specialize in their chosen sectors, leverage their skills and knowledge to act decisively and help drive the future growth of the UAE.

Now a 12-month programme, comprising a nine-month academic program and a three-month rotation module, the fourth edition will include greater options to customize coursework, allowing participants to work alongside their advisors and mentors to chart a unique course that aligns with your individual professional, personal and sector development needs.

The program will also include collaborative activities and immersive experiences, offering a combination of fieldwork and classroom learning. Combining his existing sector experience with learnings from the program’s curriculum, Nep is designed to hone participants’ leadership skills and experience while contributing to transformative sector-specific projects of national impact.

To date, 61 Emiratis of various origins have graduated from the first three editions of the National Expert Programputting into practice the skills they acquired and helping to drive positive and sustainable results that serve the nation.

The program is designed for Emirati professionals seeking to enhance their ability to drive change, deepen their understanding of sector trends and practices, and contribute to the UAE’s century-old vision of economic growth.
