Metro users can make free international calls to connect with loved ones during the holy month of Ramadan. In collaboration with Keolis, the Dubai Metro and Tram operator, four telephone booths have been installed at four stations, including Al Ghubaiba, Union and Jebel Ali metro stations.

Millions of expats in the emirate move away from their families during this holy period, and these phone booths installed at the stations offer an invaluable opportunity to strengthen family ties and connect with friends.

Ramadan initiatives

Throughout the holy month, RTA introduced a series of humanitarian and community-driven initiatives under the theme “The Journey of Good.” These initiatives, in collaboration with volunteers from RTA and Keolis, Dubai Metro and Tram operator, aim to improve community engagement and teamwork. Through these concerted efforts, a variety of Ramadan-focused activities, events and initiatives will be held, targeting an inclusive community comprised of RTA employees, bus, delivery and truck drivers, along with workers and Abra’s passengers.

Ways of good initiative

The Modes of Good initiative, an expanded version of RTA’s annual Meals On Wheels initiative, extends the spirit of giving across various modes of transportation. It is a charitable initiative that mobilizes RTA staff and volunteers from diverse backgrounds to prepare and distribute 8,000 meals during Ramadan. Distribution is carried out with a special bus and Abras designated for this purpose. Every year, this initiative supports bus drivers, delivery cyclists, truck drivers and Abra users. In addition, the initiative’s volunteers make special visits to the workers’ accommodations to distribute meals, reinforcing the community bond.

Ramadan tent project

RTA, in cooperation with charitable societies, is launching the Ramadan Tent Project, in partnership with the Beit Al Khair Society. This initiative aims to provide 2,000 Iftar meals to fasting people by setting up a dedicated tent.

Internal employee initiatives.

There are a variety of internal RTA employee initiatives including the How to Prepare for Ramadan initiative, which encompasses three remote workshops designed to highlight healthy fasting habits and highlight the importance of maintaining a balanced diet before the start of the holy month.

To promote communication, RTA has started Ramadan Bazaar and Iftar Gathering to unite staff members and leaders around the iftar meal. Through this initiative, RTA aims to encourage social communication among employees and spread a culture of tolerance, which will be positively reflected in the work environment.
