DP World begins construction of new container terminal in East Java

DP World, one of the world’s leading logistics providers and leading Indonesian conglomerate Maspion Group, has marked the beginning of the process to build a new container terminal in Gresik, East Java.

The world-class terminal will enhance East Java’s position as a key trade gateway and connect Indonesian businesses with customers in the region and globally.

The opening ceremony of the facility was held on October 2, 2023 and was attended by Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World Group and Dr. Alim Markus, Chairman and CEO of Maspion Group, and was witnessed by Mr. Budi Karya Sumadi. , Minister of Transport of the Republic of Indonesia and Mr. Septian Haryo Seto, Coordinating Deputy Minister of Maritime and Investment Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

The joint venture (JV), DP World Maspion East Java, will operate a modern international container terminal with a design capacity of up to three million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), raising efficiency and operational excellence in Indonesia. As part of DP World’s objective to offer comprehensive supply chain solutions, the joint venture will also develop an integrated industrial and logistics park, adjacent to the container terminal, with an initial area of ​​110 hectares and with possibilities for future expansion.
