61 percent of travelers surveyed prefer independent trips to organized trips, citing greater flexibility and control over arrangements, while 40 percent are willing to pay higher prices for flexibility in travel plans.

Travel spending patterns

Families with older children spend the most in destinations (66 percent), while Gen Z travelers tend to spend more before traveling.

Fashion, restaurants and accommodation are the largest spending categories, with digital wallets (70 percent) playing a major role alongside credit cards.

Payment problems before the trip

85 percent of travelers express concerns about payments before traveling, including concerns about card acceptance, currency conversion costs, and ATM withdrawal fees.

Generation Z is most concerned about card fraud (62 percent), while wealthy travelers (68 percent) are concerned about cash-related issues.

Embracing sustainable travel

73 percent of travelers are conscious of green travel and 49 percent are actively looking for sustainable options during their recent trips.

Sustainable accommodation (32 percent) and energy-efficient transportation (27 percent) are top priorities, although accessing relevant information remains a challenge for 73 percent of respondents.

The trends and diverse sample provide a solid insight into the different age groups spending on travel and provide a comprehensive understanding of traveler demographics and behavior in the UAE.
