UAE traffic alert: Rolling road closures in Abu Dhabi for final day of cycle race on Sunday – News

The temporary suspension of traffic on some roads in Abu Dhabi will continue on Sunday during the final day of the Tour of the United Arab Emirates cycling race, officials said.

Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Center (ITC) said there will be rolling closures in the garden city of Al Ain from 12:00 to 16:40 for the seventh leg of the tour.

In the seventh stage, called the International Holding Stage, runners will start at Bait Mohammed bin Khalifa and finish at the top of Jebel Hafeet, the second highest mountain in the United Arab Emirates.

Authorities advised motorists to familiarize themselves with road closures and urged drivers to start their trip early so as not to encounter any inconveniences along the way.

According to the map provided by ITC, the first lockdown will take place from 12:00 to 12:15 pm, followed by the second phase from 12:15 to 12:30 pm.

The third phase is from 12:30 to 12:40 p.m. followed by the fourth phase from 12:40 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The fifth phase will be from 1:00 p.m. to 1:05 p.m. and the sixth phase, from 1:05 p.m. to 1:20 p.m.

The seventh phase will take place from 1:20 p.m. to 1:35 p.m. and the eighth phase from 1:35 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.

The ninth phase will close from 1:45 p.m. to 2:10 p.m., followed by the tenth phase from 2:10 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. The eleventh phase will be from 2:40 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. followed by the 12th phase from 3:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.

The 13th phase will close from 3:15 p.m. to 3:20 p.m., while the 14th phase will take place from 3:20 p.m. to 4:10 p.m. The fifteenth and final phase is from 4:10 p.m. to 4:40 p.m.

The International Holding Company stage is a mountain stage where runners will cover a distance of 161 kilometers.

Riders will begin touring the garden city and pass iconic sites such as Al Ain University, Al Qattara and Al Hili. They will then pass through the pristine desert sands before returning to Green Mubazzarah. Then begins the arduous climb to Jebel Hafeet, which has a height of 1,249 meters.
