Employees in the UAE can now subscribe to the job loss insurance plan through etisalat by e& as the subscription deadline approaches.

This is the second channel that is activated this month to subscribe to the Involuntary loss of employment plan (ILOE).

Earlier this month, the consumer technology holding company Astra Tech announced a strategic partnership with the ILO insurance group represented by Dubai Insurance Company offer insurance to the OITE through the Botim application.

Mandatory job loss insurance was launched on January 1, 2023 for employees working in the private sector and the federal government sector. Workers were given time from January to June to sign up. But the deadline was extended until October 1, 2023, otherwise a fine of Dh400 will be imposed on employees for not registering for the scheme.

Employees in the UAE can subscribe to the plan through the largest telecom service provider by sending an SMS to 2120. They need to type their ID, then the space and then provide the Emirates ID number.

Dana Kansou, Director of Distribution and Strategic Partnerships at Dubai Insurancewhich manages the ILOE insurance fund, said that people should register for the plan as soon as possible because the deadline expires on October 1, 2023, to avoid fines that will come into force according to the announcement made by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE).

Currently, employees can also subscribe through ILOE’s official website and app, MBME and UPAY kiosks and centers (Tawjeeh and Tasheel), and Al Ansari Exchange branches and apps.

Additionally, all companies with more than 15 employees that are not registered with MoHRE can subscribe on behalf of their employees by sharing the required documents with businessreg@iloe.ae.

At a cost of 5 dirhams per month plus VAT, employees earning a basic salary equal to or less than 16,000 dirhams can subscribe monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually and semi-annually. Employees earning a basic salary above Dh16,000 must pay Dh10 per month. They can also choose to pay among the five options offered to them. Workers have the right to sign up for additional insurance benefits.

The employee will receive cash compensation of up to three months per claim from the date of job loss, equal to 60 percent of his or her average base salary in the last six months prior to job loss.

To be eligible to claim compensation, subscribers must be enrolled in the plan for a period of no less than 12 consecutive months and must submit an application requesting compensation within 30 days of losing employment, provided their employment has not been finished. for disciplinary reasons, they have not resigned, or the request for compensation was not fraudulent.
