Abu Dhabi Police on Sunday issued a reminder and warning to motorists, urging them to follow traffic rules to maintain safety on the road.
In particular, the authority has urged drivers to prevent accidents by not disturbing vehicles on the roads by tailgating them, honking unnecessarily or using high beams, which can cause other drivers to lose concentration and cause accidents.
Motorists should drive in the right lane when driving at low speeds to maintain safety on the road. Failure to yield to vehicles having the right of way or overtaking in the left lane can result in a fine of Dh400, police said.
The authority added that not leaving enough space between vehicles is one of the most common causes of traffic accidents. In Abu Dhabi, this violation can result in the confiscation of your vehicle. The fee for handing over your car once seized is Dh5,000. The vehicle will be retained until the fee is paid, provided it is paid within three months, after which it will be auctioned. The violation also carries a fine of 400 dirhams and 4 black points.
