The team, made up of 34 members equipped with vehicles, jet skis and search and rescue equipment, arrived three weeks ago to help find missing survivors and recover bodies.
Storm Daniel caused havoc and flash flooding in many cities in eastern Libya, with the worst damage in the city of Derna, where thousands of people were killed and thousands more are still missing.
The city’s dams were destroyed and floods devastated entire neighborhoods.
Meanwhile, the airlift inaugurated by the United Arab Emirates to Libya continues to provide humanitarian aid to the Libyan people in accordance with the directives of the President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
To date, 37 planes, carrying 815 tons of food and medical supplies, shelter materials and first aid supplies, have arrived in Libya, offering support to the areas most affected by the consequences of the disaster, especially eastern Libya, reported WAM. The number of families that benefited from the aid provided by the UAE amounts to 7,342.
Powered by state-of-the-art equipment and technology, the Emirati team stationed in Libya remains steadfast in its efforts to support those most affected.
The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) team, currently present in the affected areas of eastern Libya, is also delivering aid to those affected, in addition to assessing the situation on the ground and identifying needs to meet them through the ongoing flights of the airlift.
The UAE aid campaign in Libya is comprised of teams from the ERC, the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation.
