MoIAT and Nafis launch training programs to boost national talent in key sectors

The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) has partnered with the Emirates Talent Competitiveness Council (Nafis) to launch four trainings under the ‘Industrial Programme’.

Under the National value in the country (ICV), the ministry will collaborate with national and international companies to empower and equip Emirati talent with skills to thrive in the industrial and advanced technology sectors, creating valuable employment opportunities.

As part of its strategic objectives to improve the competitiveness of the national industrial sector, create new job opportunities and improve the skills of local talent, the ministry worked with Nafisindustrial companies and specialized training centers to implement training programs.

The new training programs cover vital manufacturing fields, including oil and gas, security, food and beverage (F&B), as well as the iron and paper industries. The ministry will collaborate with its strategic partners in the industrial sector, including institutions and training centers, to expand and diversify programs, creating more job opportunities for national talent.

MoIAT collaborated with the Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute (ADVETI) and the Center of Excellence for Applied Research and Training (CERT) to provide programs that equip students with practical skills to meet the changing needs of the working market.

The ministry also collaborated with training centers and industrial companies to offer practical and professional programs. Partners include NAFFCO for safety and security, Baker Hughes for oil and gas, Union Paper Mills for iron and paper, as well as other entities in the food and beverage space.

The announcement took place at the ministry’s Strategic Manufacturing and Industrialization Conference, as part of the ministry’s participation in ADIPEC 2023.

During the exhibition, the ministry invited national cadres to participate in training programs through the Nafis digital platform. A section dedicated to future industrial jobs has been created on the website, which will allow Emirati citizens to register for training programs, which will prepare them for employment opportunities in various sectors.

A three-day open recruitment event will take place from 24 October, bringing together manufacturers and job seekers to explore training opportunities within the industrial sector.

Omar Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technologyparticipated in a roundtable on the empowerment of Emirati talent in the industrial sector.

Al Suwaidi saying,

“The UAE, under the directives of its leaders, empowers citizens through education, training and employment opportunities. “The industrial and high-tech sectors attract talent and form a key part of the UAE’s vision and prospects for economic growth and adaptability to innovation.”

He highlighted the fundamental role of youth in the industrial and technological sectors, describing the objectives of the Industrial Programme, launched in collaboration with different entities, companies and manufacturers to improve the skills of Emiratis.

The Industrial Program was launched by MoIAT in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) and Nafis in March 2023.

The program offers 500 training and employment opportunities for UAE citizens in the industrial sector and contributes to the UAE’s vision by empowering local talent and enhancing its leadership in the industries of the future. It aligns with the changing needs of the sector, particularly the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digital transformation, artificial intelligence and automation.

ADVETI, MOIAT’The launch partner is an educational institution that offers training programs in different fields, with a focus on equipping students with key practical skills to meet the changing demands of the labor market. At the institution, students are encouraged to develop their skills, abilities and achievements to become successful leaders in a rapidly changing world.

Dr. Abdulrahman Jassim Al Hammadi, CEO of ADVETIhighlighted the importance of creating motivating professional opportunities for nationals in the industrial sector.

“This is essential for the professional development of students and their integration into the labor market. The institute focuses on close collaboration with various entities to provide employment opportunities, in addition to creating an educational environment characterized by practical application and alignment with industry needs. This vision is strengthened through the continuous development and improvement of vocational education and training, with a focus on equipping students with the necessary skills to effectively contribute to the sustainable development and global position of the UAE.”

Mohammed Gheyath, Executive Director of the Center of Excellence for Applied Research and Training (CERT)emphasized the importance of this strategic collaboration, which is aligned with CERT’s commitment to actively contribute to providing the labor market with qualified nationals.

He said,

“Investing in special education and training has become a necessity. We have a duty to empower young people to face the challenges of the current and future labor market.”

He MoIAT-CERT The collaboration includes a guided program with 120 hours of training, divided into two phases. The first phase covers emerging technologies and technical skills in operations management, total quality management, health, safety, environment and supply chains.

The second phase includes on-the-job training and workplace skills development. The program combines theoretical and practical training, with the aim of aligning learning outcomes with the demands of the labor market. It equips students with the skills necessary to achieve professional and professional excellence.
