The United Arab Emirates, especially Dubai, is a role model for Eurasian countries because of what it has achieved in the last three decades, said a senior official at Strategeast, an independent non-profit organization working to develop the digital economy. of Eurasia.

“The United Arab Emirates is a unique case that demonstrates that if countries work properly and systematically, they can transform the desert into a global megalopolis. He noted that the recent signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the United Arab Emirates and Georgia is a reflection of the growing ties between the two sides.

He said there is great interest from other countries in having a similar level of agreements with the United Arab Emirates.

Led by Motkin, a high-level delegation comprised of senior officials from the CIS region, including Kazakhstan’s Astana Hub and IT Park; Uzbekistan IT Park; The Kyrgyz Republic High-Tech Park and others are currently visiting the United Arab Emirates. The delegation met with senior officials of the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP).

Knowledge is the new oil

The Strategeast president said that for the UAE, the Gulf and Eurasia, growing digital ties are the easiest to strengthen because it is a cross-border sector. “There is no need to get commodities from point A to point B. Knowledge is new energy. The Gulf countries that have become rich thanks to hydrocarbons also see the need to diversify their model. We have many opportunities for collaboration and let us bring all the knowledge together as this will make countries like the UAE much stronger. It is not just a digital era, but a knowledge-driven era,” Anatoly Motkin told Khaleej Times in an exclusive interview on Tuesday at the SRTIP headquarters in Sharjah.

“What impresses me every time I land on a plane in Dubai during the day is the incredible infrastructure of the emirate. It is for knowledge. Everything that happened in Dubai is based on knowledge and new technologies,” she added.

Win-win proposal

Motkin believes that the UAE and Eurasia region will mutually benefit from the investment opportunities available to businesses.

“The United Arab Emirates is the definitive new market for the Eurasian region because it is a modern and digitally advanced country. Furthermore, the UAE can also benefit as more than 10,000 startups are operating in the Eurasian region and were accelerated by US accelerators, but they need investments and it is a great opportunity for UAE venture capital funds. invest there.”

He further stated that capital in the Gulf region, combined with digital and knowledge expertise in the Caucasus and Central Asia, can help create a third global leader alongside the United States and China.
