UAE cyclists urged to install additional bicycle plates on vehicle trailers

To ensure excellent visibility, drivers should install an additional license plate when mounting bicycles on the rear of their vehicles.

Winter has arrived, offering UAE cyclists ideal riding conditions. However, some people are not aware that there are more rules of the road in the country than simply obeying traffic signs and staying in designated lanes. Mounting bicycles on car trailers is subject to strict laws. There is also a fine.

An avid cyclist living in Abu Dhabi found this out the hard way. When JO put his bike in the back of his car, he blacked out the license plate and got fined. 400 dirhams.

To maintain a clear view, drivers must use an additional license plate when mounting bicycles on the back of their vehicles. This is how to correctly attach the additional license plate to the bracket:

Abu Dhabi Police have launched a campaign to encourage drivers to mount a second number plate at the base of the bike rack in the trunk of their cars when transporting bicycles. If the vehicle’s license plate is hidden, it is considered a traffic violation and is punishable by law.

G Sahany, an Indian expatriate, and his 6-year-old son have signed up for the Dubai walk on Sunday, November 12. The two plan to travel from Abu Dhabi to Dubai to take part in this annual occasion.

Sahany said,

“I signed up for the Dubai Ride, which is taking place this weekend. My plan was to take part with my son and strap our bikes to the back of my 4×4 for the ride to the venue. However, now I’m worried about having to face “It’s okay if I install a bike rack. “I didn’t know it was an infringement, but the authorities’ initiative provides more clarity.”

Mohtashim Rizvi, a resident of Dubai, intends to apply for an additional registration fee. He regularly cycles to Mushrif Park to appreciate the greenery. Rizvi stated:

“I know the rule very well and, to avoid fines, I asked for the license plate when renewing my car registration.”

“I will have to apply online and then pick it up at Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).”

he continued. Before this week’s fitness challenge, I’ll do this.

As Rizvi stated, requesting an additional license plate for a mounted bike rack is a 35 dirhams service that can be carried out through the RTA website. A short, colored plate with Expo or Dubai branding would turn drivers away 200 dirhams. This only takes “three minutes” to implement.

He Federal Traffic and Transit Law requires license plate numbers to be displayed on vehicles. Abu Dhabi police have promised to enforce the law more strictly and prosecute violators.
