Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), officially opened this year’s edition of ‘Big Bad Wolf – Sharjah’, the world’s largest book sale. The event will take place at Expo Center Sharjah from December 19 to January 7.
Following the opening ceremony, Sheikha Bodour toured the exhibition where she met with editors and exhibitors, exploring the wide variety of publications on display.

Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi commented on the launch and highlighted the cultural importance of the event, saying: “Strengthening cultural diversity and enriching Arab culture with knowledge and creative works from different cultures is a core mission of the Sharjah cultural project, as well as the SBA directive. Our annual events agenda is packed with international activities that attract content creators and writers from around the world. “This arises from our belief that cultural exchange between nations is the most effective way to promote dialogue, understanding and respect for shared human values.”

Spanning an immersive area of 4,000 square meters, the market features more than 1 million books in various genres, from children’s literature to science, history and philosophy. The premier literary event offers these books at discounts of up to 85 percent, making literature more accessible and affordable for everyone.
This event, established in 2019, is the result of a partnership between the SBA and Big Bad Wolf Ventures Sdn. Bhd. Through these partnerships, the authority reinforces its commitment to supporting publishers and offering diverse reading options in Sharjah, the UAE and the region.
