Another imposing figure will be added to Dubai’s skyline, following Azizi Developments’ recent announcement that it has begun building what will be the city’s second tallest tower.
The Dubai-based private developer has not yet revealed the name of the tower, but said the construction is worth $1.5 billion or about Dh5.5 billion.

The tower, scheduled for completion in 2028, is being built opposite the World Trade Center on Sheikh Zayed Road. It will have a vertical shopping center, luxury residences and penthouses. It will also house a 7-star hotel, a viewing point, and several high-end restaurants and other amenities.

“This tower will be our legacy,” said Mirwais Azizi, founder and president of Azizi Developments, originally from Afghanistan.
“As Dubai has given so much to my family and me – security and abundance of opportunity – this tower, which will be the second tallest, is our way of giving back to this emirate and its extraordinarily hospitable and welcoming people,” Azizi added. .
The tallest tower in Dubai and the world is the 828-meter Burj Khalifa. To be the second tallest building in the emirate, Azizi only has to surpass Marina 101, which is 425 meters high, and the recently announced Franck Muller Aeternitas Tower, which will be built in Dubai Marina at 450 meters high.
If Azizi aspires to go higher and wants to become the second tallest tower in the world, it has to be taller than Merdeka 118, the 679-metre tower in Malaysia, which was completed in November last year.
