Dubai Municipality announces launch of annual Ramadan souk

Ramadan Souq attracts diverse segments of society including citizens, residents and tourists alike. The event offers the opportunity to live a unique shopping experience at competitive prices.

The event includes a mini market with a traditional market offering various items and gadgets essential for Ramadan preparations. It also offers special products to celebrate ‘Hag Al Laila’. In addition, the event offers various services, live entertainment shows and activities for children.

Dubai Municipality attaches great importance to the development of heritage sites and ancient markets within the emirate. It channels resources and capabilities towards the organization of a variety of entertainment, tourism and commercial events. These activities highlight the historical and heritage importance of Dubai, reinforcing efforts to support investors and attract investment.

Furthermore, the Municipality is committed to offering diverse and attractive attractions that contribute to the overall attractiveness and quality of life in Dubai, solidifying its position as an international tourist destination.

With the launch of Ramadan Souq, Dubai Municipality aims to not only showcase traditional markets and their offerings, but also safeguard the heritage and authenticity of ancient customs associated with preparations for the blessed month of Ramadan.

The municipality has fixed the timing of the ‘Ramadan Souq’ between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Deira’s historic markets have significant importance as traditional shopping centers and date back to the 19th century. These markets have been subject to restoration, rehabilitation and classification according to their types. Among them is the Great Souk of Deira, known as ‘Al Dhalam Souq’ or Dark Market, famous for its diverse range of products. Additionally, there is the Plates Market, which offers kitchen essentials such as pots and trays.

These markets also include a men’s fabric market and the ‘Souq Al Manazer’, which sells various products. Additionally, there is the ‘Al-Matarih Market’, dedicated to the sale of armchairs and pillows (tikki). Other notable markets within the area include the Food Market, Marine Tools Market, Fabric ‘Souq Al Khilak’, Perfume Market, Spice Souk and Gold Souk.

Dubai Municipality organizes the annual ‘Ramadan Souq’ event as part of its ongoing initiatives and efforts to support tourism, entertainment and commercial activities within the emirate. This effort aims to attract investment and improve demand for Dubai’s public attractions and various entertainment venues.
