UAE introduces new list of fines and violations leading to vehicle confiscation in Ras Al Khaimah

These guidelines were posted to a government agency’s social media account in an effort to notify drivers of any updates.

Ras Al Khaimah Police introduced updated regulations on March 6, 2024, with the aim of informing motorists about changes to vehicle seizure procedures. The authority shared the details on Instagram under the title ‘Executive Council Resolution No. (2) of 2024 on specific cases of vehicle seizure’.

The full list includes penalties and seizure durations for various violations:

  1. Driving without a license: 30 days embargo for the first violation, penalty of 3,000 dirhams; Repeated violation in the same year results in a 60-day embargo and a fine of Dh6,000.
  2. Driving dangerously on a motorcycle or electric bicycle: 15 days embargo, fine of 2,000 dirhams.
  3. Riding a normal bicycle dangerously: 15 days embargo, fine of 500 dirhams.
  4. Loading water without a license: 30 days embargo for the first violation, penalty of 1,000 dirhams; Recurrence in the same year carries a 60-day embargo and a fine of 2,000 dirhams.
  5. Riding a recreational bicycle in unauthorized areas or in a dangerous manner: Impoundment of the vehicle for 90 days with a fine of 3,000 dirhams.
  6. Participating in a procession: Penalties range between 1,000 and 10,000 dirhams, or between 15 and 120 days of vehicle impoundment.
  7. Driving on the road without prior police authorization: Fine of 10,000 dirhams or 90 days of vehicle seizure.
  8. Running on the road without a license plate or with a false one: 120 days of vehicle seizure, fine of 20,000 dirhams.
  9. Parading in sandy, coastal or tourist areas that endanger lives: 120 days of vehicle seizure, fine of 10,000 dirhams.
  10. Post or repost a vehicle that commits a traffic violation: 60 days of vehicle seizure, fine of 5,000 dirhams.
  11. License plate falsification: Confiscation of 60 days, fine of 5,000 dirhams.
  12. Covering tuition: Confiscation of 30 days, fine of 5,000 dirhams.
  13. Placing reflective stickers on the vehicle or shading it while it is moving or stationary: 30 days of vehicle seizure, fine of 3,000 dirhams.
  14. Modifying a vehicle to increase speed or noise.: 60 days of vehicle seizure with a fine of 5,000 dirhams.
  15. Intentional hitting of a police vehicle: 120 days of vehicle seizure, fine of 10,000 dirhams.
  16. Driving a vehicle in a manner that is harmful to the environment or in tourist areas: 30 days of vehicle seizure, fine of 3,000 dirhams; Repeat offense results in a 60-day embargo and a fine of Dh6,000.
  17. Parking a vehicle at construction sites without reason: 30-day confiscation for the first offense, Dh3,000 for vehicle recovery; Repeat offenses carry a 60-day embargo and a fine of 6,000 dirhams.
  18. Fines exceeding 10,000 dirhams: After 30 days of seizure, the owner must pay the fines due to recover the vehicle.
  19. Cases determined by the Commander in Chief: Impoundment of the vehicle for a maximum of 60 days with a fine not exceeding 5,000 dirhams.
  20. Showing vehicles for sale in other countries: 10 days of vehicle seizure or fine of 1,000 dirhams for its recovery.
  21. Violating electronic cases determined by the Commander in Chief: Seizure of the vehicle according to the previous ruling or penalty of between 100 and 5,000 dirhams.
  22. abandoned vehicles: 15 days of seizure, fine of 1,000 dirhams for recovery.
