Abu Dhabi healthcare sector exceeds Emiratization targets with more than 1,200 local professionals

Abu Dhabi: The Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi has exceeded Emiratization targets, attracting more than 1,200 national healthcare professionals within six months of launching the Tawteen initiative.
The programme, aligned with the government’s efforts to create job opportunities for Emirati talent, focuses on various medical and administrative roles. Tawteen This important milestone comes just six months after the Department of Health introduced Tawteen targets for the healthcare sector.
Through the Tawteen initiative, the Department of Health has set Emiratization targets for all health facilities operating in Abu Dhabi to provide new job opportunities for UAE citizens. The Department of Health said it has achieved part of its planned target, contributing to a 12 per cent year-on-year growth in the sector’s national workforce.
Mansour Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, said: “Guided by the directives of our wise leadership and with the support of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and President of Abu Dhabi. Dubai Executive Council, we have successfully attracted more than 1,200 domestic talents to the emirate’s healthcare sector in just six months.
“This achievement reflects our continued efforts to support Tawteen’s objectives in the healthcare sector to retain qualified domestic medical professionals, further cementing Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading global healthcare destination.
“By exceeding our 2023 targets, we are helping to create a sustainable healthcare sector, powered by a skilled and specialized national workforce. We look forward to achieving greater milestones that will allow us to build a healthier Abu Dhabi.” Priority
Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the Emirates Talent Competitiveness Council (ETCC), said: “Emiratization in the medical and healthcare sector is considered a priority for the UAE’s smart leadership. The Cabinet Resolution assigns a specialized program within the Nafis Program, known as the National Health Program.
“This program aims to train ten thousand Emiratis within five years through academic and training programs in selective medical and health specialties.”
Within the governance of initiatives and programs related to the development of cadres in the medical and health sector, Al Mazrouei pointed to a resolution issued by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, President of the Presidential Court and President of the United Arab Emirates. of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Talent Competitiveness Council, to form an Emiratization committee chaired by His Excellency that will involve the Minister of Health and Prevention and will include members from various interested entities, including the Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH ).
Al Mazrouei praised the great efforts of the Department of Health and its commitment to the Emiratization goals in the medical and healthcare sector. This represents a significant achievement that contributes to empowering Emirati professionals in this critical sector and facilitating the achievement of Emiratization goals.
Tawteen’s targets include medical professions such as physicians, nurses and expanded healthcare professions, while administrative personnel include employees working in the information technology, human resources, accounting, finance and law sectors.
Nafis is a federal program aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the Emirates’ human resources and training them for jobs in the private sector, within five years. The Department of Health is expanding its support to all facilities to achieve the goal and make the most of the Nafis initiative and its platform to identify Emiratis seeking employment in the health field.
