Abu Dhabi: The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has led an exercise to strengthen the UAE’s preparedness in case of epidemics.

More than 20 entities participated in the theoretical exercise, including the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Education and the General Authority of Civil Aviation. They assessed the country’s preparedness to counter any outbreak of infectious diseases.

The exercise ensured the effectiveness of the precautionary and preventive measures enacted by the respective entities, each leveraging their unique capabilities. Central to the exercise was a collective commitment to draw insights from global responses to epidemics and pandemics. Such collaborative contemplation sought to foster an environment conducive to proactive measures, in which strategic plans, guidelines and medical capabilities were examined.

The deliberations revolved around improving the efficiency of communication channels and the dissemination of information among the authorities concerned. In addition, participants delved into the field of media procedures, analyzing the means to effectively transmit information to the public in various situations that may arise on a local or international scale.

NCEMA President Ali Saeed Al Neyadi affirmed the fundamental role of proactive risk management in conjunction with the entities that constitute the National Crisis and Emergency Management Network. This collaboration, he stressed, depends on strategic warnings, risk assessments and evaluation of their ramifications. The primary objective is to build strategic messages while promoting awareness.

Al Neyadi said: “The National Crisis and Emergency Management Network is committed to harmonizing national efforts to counter all types of risks and threats, assessing their possible repercussions. This is achieved by formulating a shared strategic perspective.”

He added: “By evaluating previous protocols, operations and lessons learned, we aim to create an exemplary global Emirati framework to address emergencies, crises and disasters of various complexities. This reaffirms the UAE’s remarkable adaptability and prowess in dealing with such scenarios. “
