Four-day weekend: Sharjah government announces paid holiday for New Year – News

Sharjah has confirmed its New Year holiday for the emirate’s government sector.

The Department of Human Resources announced on Monday that January 1, 2024 will be the official New Year holiday for all government departments, agencies and institutions in Sharjah.

Official business hours are expected to resume starting Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

This translates into a four-day weekend for the emirate’s government employees.

Early last week, the federal government and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization announced that January 1 would be a holiday for employees in both the public and private sectors. This translates into a three-day weekend for most people in the country.

Dubai authorities also declared Monday, January 1, 2024, as a paid New Year’s holiday for its government sector.
