Mohammed bin Rashid meets IMF Managing Director ahead of WGS 2024

Also in attendance were Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai; Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports and Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group; Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council; Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the World Government Summit; and Mattar Al Tayer, Commissioner General of Infrastructure, Urban Planning and Welfare, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Dubai Roads and Transport Authority.

The meeting discussed various global economic issues, the strong relations between the UAE and the IMF and the key role of the booming UAE economy in providing an optimal environment for global businesses to thrive. During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the role of the WGS in anticipating future trends in governance and supporting efforts aimed at driving a sustainable global economy.

His Highness said: “Through the participation of numerous high-level officials, expert forecasters, decision-makers, opinion leaders and international organizations, the outcomes of the Summit serve to actively foster collaborative partnerships between nations around the world. “These efforts play a crucial role in advancing continued prosperity around the world.”

Kristalina Georgieva highlighted the strong economic performance of the UAE in recent years. She noted that the WGS serves as a platform that promotes constructive dialogue and facilitates the exchange of knowledge and experience between decision makers, international experts and specialists from various fields.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the Summit serves as a platform to generate innovative solutions that collectively address global challenges and contribute to shaping a better future for humanity. The IMF Managing Director also highlighted the organization’s strong relationship with the United Arab Emirates.

The 2024 World Government Summit will be held from February 12 to 14. WGS 2024, which brings together more than 25 heads of state and world leaders, more than 85 international and regional organizations, 140 governments and international opinion leaders and experts, seeks to explore major future global trends.

The Summit will feature more than 110 plenaries, panel discussions and interactive sessions, 200 international speakers and 23 ministerial meetings and executive sessions attended by more than 300 ministers.
