DHA develops the region’s first accredited medical education system in the private sector

The DHA has identified, within its newly developed system, 30 specialized programs, which will be implemented in 24 hospitals and medical centers, as a first stage, with the aim of providing 126 training opportunities for young doctors.

In the first phase, DHA focused on the main specialties, which included eight health specialties: Family medicine, internal diseases, general surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics and ophthalmology. It also had a subprogram in the specialty of fertility medicine. This last program is the first accredited by the Arab Board of Health Specializations.

The first phase list of approved hospitals and centers included American Hospital, Saudi German Hospital, Fakeeh University, King’s College, Prime Al Garhoud, Medcare Medical Group, Moorfields Eye Hospital, Barraquer UAE Eye Hospital, Gargash Hospital, Fakih Fertility Center, Orchid. ART Specialized Center and Fertility Clinics, and Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib, Aster DM Healthcare Group, Zulekha Hospital, Liberty Dental Clinic, Marina Dental Center, Al Garhoud Hospital, Mirdif, American Academy of Plastic Surgery Hospital, Autism Center Dubai, Open Minds, American Wellness and Galadari Derma Center.

Al Ketbi said: “The DHA has taken this important initiative to establish the first educational system in the private health sector, which was adopted at the level of the Arab world, in line with our vision of developing medical education in the emirate and maintaining the rhythm. with the development of healthcare and the health of the UAE population and to ensure better alignment of medical education resources.”

He added that the DHA pays special attention to medical education and training as it is the gateway to creating expertise and providing the healthcare sector with distinguished medical competencies.

He highlighted that the DHA believes in the value and importance of education and training and is confident that the system it has developed in this field will raise the standard and efficiency of medical facilities in Dubai and therefore raise the quality of services and attention in a way that exceeds customer expectations.

He stated that the DHA spares no effort to provide all possible education and training opportunities to improve the performance of medical staff.

Dr. Marwan Al Mulla, Executive Director of the Health Regulation Sector, emphasized that DHA’s interest in providing an administrative and supervisory structure for residency and scholarship programs in Dubai is aimed at ensuring that the requirements of various local, regional and international accreditation bodies, whose objective is to improve the quality of educational outcomes and ensure the availability of appropriate educational and clinical resources.

Dr. Wadeia Mohammad Sharief, Director of the Department of Medical Research and Education at DHA, noted the importance of investing in all training opportunities to create and expand residency and fellowship programs in an attempt to close the gap between the growing number of graduates in medicine universities annually in the country, and the specialization opportunities necessary for their scientific and professional career and to strengthen medical training and continuing medical education.
